If you are aged between ten and fourteen then Guides is for you.  We have several units in the area being run by our amazing volunteers.

You can make loads of new friends and have endless opportunities to take part in exciting events with your own unit, with all the other Guide units or even with all the Rainbows and Brownies too!

We have a fun programme to complete but we do lots of other exciting things too, both within the unit meeting place and out and about.  We go on day trips to places such as Harry Potter World, Monkey Forest or the Space Centre. We have sleepovers and go on camps. Some of our units have even ventured abroad.

Guides can also apply to go on International trips to places such as Cayman Islands, Iceland, Mexico and Sri Lanka. If selected, you could find yourself representing Staffordshire or Midlands Region Guides as you jet off on an adventure of a lifetime.

We have a wide range of activities for you to try and many opportunities for you to challenge yourself with something completely new. There really is something for every girl.

Within our exciting new programme there are plenty of ways to earn badges and awards which are based on the six themes that are consistent across each of our different sections:

  • Know Myself
  • Express Myself
  • Be Well
  • Have Adventures
  • Take Action
  • Skills For My Future

You are involved in choosing your own activities for weekly unit meetings, giving you the opportunity to develop many vital life skills.

Our Skills Builders are a fun way for you to develop important skills whilst working in small groups or as a whole unit.

Unit Meeting Activities are also a big hit with all our Guides. You can enjoy looking through the cards, choosing the activity you fancy and then getting involved or even taking the lead.

Guides also get to choose from a wide range of Interest Badges to work on. You will need to show your Leaders how you have completed the three challenges set for each badge. You can work on these at home so it’s a great opportunity for your parents, friends and other family members to get involved and be part of the adventure.

All members of Girlguiding are invited to make their promise and, as a Guide, you will be encouraged to think about what it means to you before you do so. You will be awarded a special badge to help you remember this special occasion.

Their promise is:

“I promise that I will do my best, to be true to myself and develop my beliefs, to serve the King and my community, to help other people and to keep the Guide Law.”

The Guide Law is:

  1. A Guide is honest, reliable and can be trusted.
  2. A Guide is helpful and uses her time and abilities wisely.
  3. A Guide faces challenge and learns from her experiences.
  4. A Guide is a good friend and a sister to all Guides.
  5. A Guide is polite and considerate.
  6. A Guide respects all living things and takes care of the world around her.

What Next

After Guides, the next section is Rangers, your leader can help you find the unit that is right for you.

Another option is to become a Young Leader and be part of one of our fantastic unit teams. Working with the section of your choice you can develop your own leadership skills whilst having fun and supporting younger members.
